Lords of the Fallen is another Souls-like game that will put your patience to the test. If you're not looking forward to dying over and over again, then you'll surely want to invoke the help of Pieta to make your health items stronger. We'll show you everything you need to know about upgrading the Sanguinarix, your main healing item in the game.
During your long playtime in Lords of the Fallen, you'll definitely want to spend some time upgrading a few of your items. Besides upgrading your weapons and other equipment, you'll want to upgrade your health item, aka your Sanguinarix. Upgrading it will not only increase the healing effectiveness, but also the amount of times you can use it.
But before you can actually upgrade your Sanguinarix, you'll have to defeat Pieta, she of Blessed Renewal, first.
Lords of the Fallen: How To Upgrade Your Sanguinarix
In order to upgrade your Sanguinarix, you'll have to ask Pieta for help. Yes, Pieta, aka the first big boss that you have to fight in Lords of the Fallen .
After you've defeated Pieta, she'll go to the Skyrest Bridge hub, where she'll be a non-hostile NPC that you can talk to at any time.
If you're struggling to defeat Pieta, check out Tyrannicon's guide on YouTube, so you can defeat her in your sleep:
The great thing about Pieta is that once she's defeated and has joined the hub, she offers quite a few services for you to pick from.
Once you've defeated Pieta she'll not only give you the option to respec, but she'll also upgrade your Sanguinarix. After defeating her for the first time, you'll want to walk up to her and exhaust her dialogue options until she offers you her multitude of services.
She won't just upgrade your health item because you ask her nicely, though. In order to upgrade your Sanguinarix, Pieta needs Saintly Quintessence.
Saintly Quintessence Explained
The Saintly Quintessence is only used to upgrade the Sanguinarix, so you won't have to worry about accidentally using up your item for something else.
You can find Saintly Quintessence in multiple locations, most of them are located in the Umbral, the realm of the dead. While you're there, keep an eye out for corpses with a glowing golden halo. If you spot one, use Soulflay on it to release the item from the corpse. The items in question are Saintly Quintessences.
Bring them back to Pieta in order to upgrade your health item to make it stronger! The more often you upgrade your Sanguinarix, the more Saintly Quintessences you'll need to upgrade your health item again. Currently, it looks like there are 20 Saintly Quintessences in Lords of the Fallen.
