Spider-Man Remastered Coming To PC | Everything We Know

Rejoice, for PS4’s Spider-Man is coming to the PC on August 12th, and we couldn’t be more excited. There isn’t another version of Peter Parker that’s more similar to his comic-book counterpart, which allowed Spider-Man to become one of PlayStation’s most popular games of the last generation.

Longtime supporters of PlayStation have gotten behind the idea of porting over exclusives to PC. As such, Sony has doubled its efforts to launch games onto the PC. We’ve seen incredible ports like God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn. Plus, Spider-Man and Miles Morales aren’t the only exclusive titles coming soon. It’s known that Uncharted Legacy of Thieves will launch sometime in 2022.

Marvel's Spider-Man was released on the PlayStation 4 in 2018. A remastered version of the game was released in 2020 for PlayStation 5 alongside Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

The story follows Peter Parker, who is in the prime of his Spider-Man career but features the origin of his iconic nemesis, Doc Oc.

For anyone interested, Sony and Insomniac Studios announced the sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PS5.

What’s The Story Of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered?

Peter Parker has been Spider-Man for eight years and has become an experienced crime fighter. There isn’t any origin story for Peter Parker this time around. Instead, the origin story surrounds Doctor Otto Octavius.

Along the way, other characters from the Spider-Man franchise make appearances. We fight against the likes of Kingpin and Electro. There are also battles with Vulture, Shocker, Taskmaster, Screwball, Tombstone, and Rhino.

We won’t spoil the entire story, but a specific individual is persuading these characters to attack Spider-Man. This character becomes one of the final two enemies in Spider-Man, with a possible reappearance coming with the sequel.

Which PC Features Will Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered Have?

PlayStation and Insomniac Games revealed all PC features that will be incorporated into Spider-Man Remastered. Here are the official descriptions of all the special features:

• Ray-traced reflections are available across the game for those with hardware that supports them. Reflections also have varied quality levels, one of which is a new, higher-quality ray-traced mode that offers even more city detail when web-swinging and fighting crime in Marvel’s New York.
• NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) increases graphics performance using dedicated Tensor Core AI processors found only on GeForce RTX GPUs, boosting frame rates with uncompromised image quality.
• NVIDIA DLAA (Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing) is an AI-based anti-aliasing mode for GeForce RTX gamers who have spare GPU headroom and want higher levels of image quality.
• Beyond choosing output resolutions, we also support a wide range of display ratios, including ultrawide 21:9, panoramic 32:9, and NVIDIA Surround multi-monitor setups.* If you’ve got three monitors, we’ve got the game for you to show them off with!
• Many other rendering systems are more customizable than they have been in the past, with additional quality levels and algorithmic options. These include SSAO, texture filtering, LoD quality, shadows, and more. We support windowed, full screen, and exclusive full screen rendering modes.

We’re excited to use the adjustable render settings, as it’ll allow us to maximize the graphical fidelity of Spider-Man. We expect that community developers will launch mods that enable Spider-Man to look 10x better than its PS4 or PS5 counterpart.

Having access to ray-tracing is also nice, as we’ll maintain superior lighting options throughout New York City. For instance, the screenshots shown by PlayStation indicate that the visual fidelity in Spider-Man is far greater than that of the PS5. However, nobody will know the full extent of this port's visual fidelity until Spider-Man is released on August 12th.

Is Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered Coming To The Steam Deck?

Unfortunately, the chances of Valve’s Steam Deck running Spider-Man are low. This version of Marvel’s Spider-Man is meant to focus on next-generation technology, meaning handheld consoles like the Steam Deck will struggle to operate this game without overheating. Least when trying to run Spider-Man at its peak settings.

The Steam Deck would need to run Spider-Man at its lowest settings to ensure that overheating didn’t occur, and at that point, you’d be better to experience this game through a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5.

Game Trailer

This reveal trailer was amazing. It showed immediate improvements in the visual fidelity of Marvel’s Spider-Man and its fictional version of New York City. We see characters like Scorpion, Vulture, Rhino, Black Cat, Mary Jane Watson, and Miles Morales appear in the trailer.

Despite these characters' appearance, King Pin and Doctor Otto Octavius steal the show with their ominous forewarnings to Peter Parker. It makes you want to replay the incredible fights between Spider-Man and two of his biggest rivals.

Game System Requirements

Insomniac Studios finally provided an official representation of the system requirements for Spider-Man Remastered. They split it into five categories, depending on the level of fidelity you want.

As you can see, the standard requirements are pretty doable. If you want to go full-on and play Spider-Man Remastered at the highest fidelity, than the Nvidia GTX GeForce 3000 Series will have everything you need to run Spider-Man at its peak settings.
