Bethesda is so known for titles like The Elder Scrolls or Fallout that it's always weird hearing "new Bethesda game". Will it live up to the others?
Bethesda is best known for games like The Elder Scrolls or Fallout, so when we hear "new Bethesda game", like we did with Deathloop, our first reaction is always... why not Elder Scrolls 6, though? No, that's not true (yes, it is).
Unfortunately for some, this new Bethesda game is going to be an entirely new IP. This leak comes from known industry insider and leaker Nick Baker, who's very prominent within the Xbox leaking community... and you remember, Xbox bought Bethesda. You're starting to see the connection now, right?
In his XboxEra podcast, he claimed that there is a real-time strategy game currently in development at Bethesda that's titled Project Wormwood. Needless to say, this title sounds like it's a work in progress, and it might just be a code name.
Bethesda isn't exactly known for strategy games (Fallout Shelter fans, where you at?) and since Baker said it'll be a new IP, we doubt it'll have anything to do with the Bethesda games we know and love.
Neither Xbox nor Bethesda have mentioned this new IP or a Project Wormwood by name, so the word of Nick Baker is all we have now. He might have leaked things correctly in the past, but leaks always need to be taken with grain(s) of salt.
Not sure if this Project Wormwood will pay off for Bethesda, though. Like I said, they're not exactly known for strategy games and if you're a Bethesda fan, you're most likely one because you like DOOM or Skyrim. Might just be a short and cute side project... but then again, I doubt Xbox would care about "short and cute side projects".
