Nintendo has just revealed new footage of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on their website that shows significant changes in the Gerudo Desert. What exactly happened to this place?
Aside from all the trailers we got for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, we now got even more footage to analyze. The Japanese Nintendo YouTube channel recently uploaded three 30 second ads for Tears of the Kingdom and one of them shows new game footage that we haven't seen yet. You should take a look at this, because it seems like the Gerudo Desert has undergone significant changes.

Nintendo Japan has just released three short commercials for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with one of them showing a large beauty shot of the Gerudo Desert. It looks a lot like the gigantic statues have been damaged massively. Only four of them are visible in this clip, which is really concerning because it seems like the remaining three have been destroyed completely, and their remains are now covered in sand.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Trailer Leaves Fans Puzzled by Missing Character – What Happened?
That leads me to another point. The area of The Seven Heroines seems to be flooded with sand, to the point where some of the beautiful statues are nearly halfway buried! It's quite unusual, and honestly, I can't think of a good explanation for what happened here.
By taking a look at the background in this scene, the entire thing becomes even more concerning. There is a GIGANTIC cloud of churned up sand in the distance. Maybe this will have something to do with the enormous temple that has risen up from the ground in the Gerudo Desert.
