Overwatch 2 has just gotten a new map that was made BY US! Yes, this map was created by Overwatch fans themselves, and it is in-game right now! Seeing that Blizzard is giving their players the chance to have a real impact on this game is fantastic, and has given us high hopes for more events like this one.

Overwatch 2 New Map Talantis Is Live

A while ago, Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller and art director Dion Rogers hosted a live event on Twitch, where they would design a whole new Overwatch 2 map together with the community. Blizzard has never done anything like this before, but it turns out that we (the community) did a pretty decent job. The new community-made map, "Talantis" has actually made it to Overwatch 2 and is now available as a limited-time arcade mode.

We've created an underwater map that is surrounded by big fish and creates an amazing deep sea atmosphere. It is playable as a point capture game mode, and you'll find it in the Arcade category for a limited time. Sadly, the map will only stay in the game until the event ends on May 1, 2023.

Even though you, obviously, can't compare Talantis to the other beautiful Overwatch maps out there, fans are more than happy to see something of their own creation in Overwatch. The map doesn't have any textures, materials, or landscapes... and it does come with a bunch of bugs... But who cares about perfection. What counts is the message behind it and the connection we can make with the developers.

I know for a fact, that the Overwatch community has some pretty talented and amazing artists who get far too little recognition. Blizzard seriously needs to think about giving more fan-made content an appearance in the game... Maybe it will be a skin the next time around? Surely I am not the only one who would love to have something like this Diablo 4 skin concept as an actual cosmetic in the game.
