Due to the fact that Overwatch is now 5v5 and only features one tank and two supporters, there are a couple of issues coming up. One tank doesn't have the capacity to provide enough protection for two supporters, thus playing a supporter became very hard with the 5v5 system.
The Overwatch 2 development team has a lot of ideas to make the support role more attractive and more fun to play. The blog revealed that they plan on implementing those ideas within the following seasons.

Sojourn Rework For Season 2
Sojourn is one of the newest heroes in Overwatch. The damage hero already has quite a large fanbase, as she is taken in almost every match. She is quite a simple but strong hero, perfect for beginners but sometimes a bit too powerful.
In the blog, Jared Neuss mentioned that Sojourn is part of the many changes coming with Season 2 on December 6. But they want to see how the latest mid-season update settles in before making any further announcements for the next update.
