The first ever pride event in Overwatch 2 has just been announced by the developers in a heart-warming blog post about how they want to celebrate the individuals of the universe. Pride is finally coming to Overwatch 2, and we can't wait to celebrate pride month at its fullest. It's Overwatch's first pride event, and we have all the details about the duration, unique rewards and lore right here for you!
Overwatch 2 Pride Event - What To Expect
Every year in June, people from around the globe come together virtually or in person to celebrate not only pride month, but the beauty of each individual. Pride is a reminder for everyone to accept and one's true self and do the same for others. Starting on June 1 and going until June 30, people will be able to celebrate this event in Overwatch. With unique name cards, player icons and even a changed map, pride is in full swing in Overwatch 2.
Pride Themed Collectibles
Players that log into Overwatch 2 during June, will be greeted with a wide range of Player Icons and Name Cards, showcasing the incredible diversity that exists within this amazing community. Blizzard stated, that they want their players to see themselves in the game, whether that is by identifying with a certain hero to by having a name card that they feel represented by.
In Overwatch 2, players adore the openly queer characters who add to the representation within the community. Each of these characters will receive their own unique collectibles. For instance, Tracer will have a card representing her lesbian identity, Soldier: 76 will get a gay card representing his identity, Lifeweaver will have a pansexual card, Baptiste a bisexual card, and Pharah a lesbian one.
Pride Themed Map
Get ready to dive into the updated Midtown map in Overwatch 2, set right after a Pride parade. If you've ever been to a parade, you know the incredible vibes it brings. Picture confetti scattered everywhere, rainbows stretching as far as the eye can see, and an overall amazing atmosphere.
Now, for the first time, we all get to experience this together in Overwatch, including those who haven't had the chance to attend a pride parade in person. It's a celebration that brings us closer and lets us share the joy as a community.

Pharah and Baptiste Short Story
With Blizzard now officially revealing Pharah and Baptiste's sexual orientation, they also released the new short story "AS YOU ARE". It focuses on both Pharah and Baptiste's identities and internal struggles in finding acceptance within the Overwatch team. I think this short story is a beautiful homage to all of us who have struggled with our identities, and this story showcases perfectly that no matter how hard things seem to be, you are never alone in it.
A Good Cause
Blizzard has gone above and beyond to support pride, and it's not just limited to an in-game event. The official Blizzard gear Store now offers a wide range of pride-themed merchandise. What's even better is that from May 16 to June 30, all sales will be donated to the national Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE).
By purchasing pride gear, you not only show your support but also contribute to a worthy cause, check out the store here!
