Overwatch 2 World Cup will return in 2023
The big picture for the Overwatch 2 World Cup is published. There are more program details coming soon. In January, they will announce the 26 countries and regions competing in the World Cup. The Overwatch World Cup exists separately from the Overwatch League and has more ways for players worldwide to get involved, and the tournament is for those Overwatch players who aren’t currently participating in pro play.

You don't have to be a professional to participate in the tournament. Sure, you must be excellent in Overwatch 2, but basically anyone can qualify. At the new World Cup Trials in February, you can qualify for the World Cup for your country or region.
