Red Dead Redemption 2 is still one of the most beautiful games out there, and it was expected to be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X anytime soon. But according to the latest rumors, RDR2 fans will at least have to wait much longer than they thought.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is still one of the most beautiful games in existence. And it seemed like Red Dead Redemption 2 was about to become even prettier, because a since-deleted Tweet indicated that the game is coming to the new systems. You know what since-deleted normally means, right? It means: confirmed.
But during the last weeks, several rumors about the RDR series came up and by now it seems like RDR fans will have to show a lot of patience before seeing Read Dead Redemption 2 on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.
Red Dead Redemption 3: News, Rumors, Release
Red Dead Redemption 2: PS5- and Xbox Series X Development Probably Paused
It seems that there has been a general change of mind at Rockstar Games and obviously one of the main reasons for that was the GTA Trilogy fiasco, which strongly disappointed many GTA-fans all over the world. According to some popular leakers and a Kotaku source, Rockstar Games is now focussing on GTA 6, which is expected to be released in the upcoming years.
As a result, other Rockstar projects seem to remain on hold. That means that it's not only a next-gen-port of RDR2 that's probably not coming anytime soon (if it's ever been in development, there was never an official announcement), but also that the rumored Read Dead Redemption and GTA IV Remasters are at least frozen until the release of GTA 6. Long story short: a release of any Rockstar game that's not GTA 6 seems now very unlikely until Rockstar's next Grand Theft Auto goes on sale.
Still, can you imagine Red Dead Redemption 2 looking any better? Because I sure can't. The game was already looking supernova-good, and even ran smooth as butter online, while looking better than some games being released today. If we really get an upgraded version of that anytime in the future, we might just live in a reality where an upgraded version of a game that's over 5 years old is the most beautiful game around.
