Everything aside; is this Sim really drinking a glass of wine in the morning before eating breakfast and getting ready for the day? Can't wait for this game. | © EA

Sul Sul. It's been a while since we've gotten a new Sims game. That was in 2014, when The Sims 4 was released, and although we've gotten – and still getting (yay, horses!) – expansion packs, the community is waiting for The Sims 5. Considering, that we got four games in 14 years but weren't presented with a single one in the last eleven years, it's not surprising that some players get anxious about a new Sims game.

Now, on June 27, 2023, there was finally a new Behind The Sims video update. We're getting more expansion packs for The Sims 4 but far more interesting; we're getting prototype footage and insights to the development for "Project Rene" – so for The Sims 5.

The Sims 5 Prototype Footage Revealed

It can be summarized that EA is focusing on making the Sims more expressive and giving more opportunities in interacting with other Sims and objects around them. The broader neighborhoods should add to that experience. But you can take a look at it yourself, they start talking about the development at 11:14.

We get a nice insight about different parts of the development. While talking about lightning, we get a look at a prototype apartment, which already looks amazing and cozily stuffed with things. If this will be the amount of detail we get to pack our precisely built houses with things that nobody needs, but that look nice, it will probably take days and not hours until we've done with building and interior design.

Also, a desperately missed feature from The Sims 3 seems to get a comeback: the hair-color-wheel! Hopefully this will also apply to other things as well, as clothes or the furniture... if so, forget what I said about days until the building is done. It will be ages. But it seems like The Sims 5 will be enabling a unique and very customized way to play the game.

A nice addition to this unique experience "Project Rene" seems to be, there will be routines and schedules throughout the day for all the Sims roaming the broad neighborhoods. Although they didn't mention it, considering how focused they're on details and possibilities concerning interactions, it seems possible that your Sim interrupting these routines could have an impact on the game. It would be a cool feature. Unfortunately, there is still no release date to be seen. Speaking about cool features, I bet you've thought about this sometimes:
