A speedrunner has managed to find an inventive new way to beat Dark Souls — by throwing Dung Pies at his enemies. Did he succeed?
All we ever seem to hear about is how difficult Souls games are, right? These are some of the most difficult games mechanically and gameplay wise, so what if we told you all that you had to do was throw a bunch of shit around and you’d be fine.
We have heard and read a lot about Elden Ring lately, and while it isn’t a Souls game, it still plays like one and many deem it extremely difficult. But today we’re going to take a deeper look at Dark Souls and what one speedrunner has done to make the game a little more interesting for himself.
Player Beats Every Boss With Poop
Speedrunner LilAggy has decided to turn the impossible possible with this challenge. He’s decided to beat the game by only killing enemies with ‘Dung Pies’ aka literally pieces of shit. The hard part? The Dung Pies don’t do a lot of instant damage. Instead, they do damage over time thanks to the toxic they inflict on their enemies… but you, as the player, will also be affected.
Now that we have that out of the way, we have explained the details of the challenge, we want to know whether LilAggy managed to complete his quest of a poop filled joy, right? Well, he did have to go through some loopholes to complete some tasks, like when fighting the Iron Goblin who are immune to Dung Pies.
After almost eight hours of gameplay, LilAggy managed to make it to the end of the game, using poop and a few neat tricks. So does this answer the question whether you can beat the game using only Dung Pies? Yes it does. With a lot of patience and skill you’ll be able to do it too.
Can You Speedrun Elden Ring?
Elden Ring is the newest game by FromSoftware who have defined the genre of Souls games. Their latest release has swept the world and many speedrunners have taken on the challenge to complete the game as quickly as possible.
The leaderboard on speedrun.com is locked until March 18, 2022, but from various YouTube videos we can see that some of the runs are already under 30 minutes! These people sure are on another level.
