Core Keeper has sold over 200,000 copies on Steam already. This adventure co-op could be the next big game on Steam.
Core Keeper is difficult to explain. This game gives Minecraft, Terraria, Stardew Valley and Valheim vibes all in one. Who would have thought something like this exists? Well, it’s early access on Steam and it could be the next big fad in gaming.
Let’s take a quick look at Core Keeper, what it’s about and what fascinates players about this underground mining game.
What is Core Keeper?
Core Keeper can be played in co-op with up to eight friends or alone — if you're like me and you don't have many friends. In the game, you are trapped underground in a huge system of caves. Why are you there, exactly? You’re not sure, but you’ve been summoned by a mysterious Core.
Now the fun part begins. You get to pick away at the cavern walls to explore the different cave systems, collect resources and use those to craft weapons, armor and tools. Not only that, but there are enemies which you can encounter as well, so watch out and make sure to keep a weapon close by.
Like in Vlaheim, you’re able to stumble upon bosses at random or you can figure out how to pinpoint their location. It’s also quite interesting how you can evolve your crafting skills from simple wood tools to copper ones later on.
Core Keeper Has Sold More the 250,000 Copies
Core Keeper is still in early access, but it has sold over 100,000 copies within two days of launch on March 8. Since then, the sales have only increased to over 250,000 copies. You can pick it up on Steam as well to check out this unique and fun indie survival crafting sandbox.
The game itself not expensive at around $13 and seems accessible to most — Steam has even reduced the price by 10% for anyone who wants to get it quickly.
Another reason why it has blown up is the visuals. Even though the game takes place underground, it doesn’t feel claustrophobic at all. Instead, it’s very cozy and even beautiful. This makes the game appealing to play and explore further.
So, what are you waiting for? Do you want the Minecraft, Stardew Valley and Valheim experience? Then get to it and check out Core Keeper. If exploring isn’t your thing, then you can also check out the Xbox Game Pass this month, or even GTA 5 which is coming to PS5.
