Spider-Man 2 is finally here, and while many Marvel fans are extremely hyped, one important question that needs to be answered is: will Spider-Man 2 be available for PC players? While it hasn't been officially confirmed yet, we'll show you why a PC-version of Insomniac's hit game is just a matter of time.
Spider-Man 2 is finally coming out on October 20 and after all the amazing trailers that were released, fans simply cannot wait to play the newest installation of Insomniac Games' Spider-Man series.
Speaking of trailers, have you seen the launch trailer yet? If not – what are you waiting for?
Most of you will already know that Spider-Man 2 is coming out for the PS5 , but will the game also be playable on the PC, like Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales are by now?
Is Spider-Man 2 On PC?
As of now, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is not available for PC.
Spider-Man 2 is being released as a PS5 exclusive, so the game won't be playable on any other consoles for the time being. This also includes the PS4, as Spider-Man 2 uses newer and faster technology that wouldn't work smoothly on the PS4.
This doesn't mean that Spider-Man 2 will never be available for the PC players to play. The first two Insomniac Games' Spider-Man titles were also released for the PC after the initial release, so we can assume the same will happen for Spider-Man 2.
The first Spider-Man game in the series came out in September 2018 and got a Windows version back in August 2022. It didn't take as long for Spider-Man: Miles Morales to receive a port, though, as the game came out in November 2020 and was released for Windows in November 2022, so it basically took "only" two years.
We expect that the same will happen for Spider-Man 2. Perhaps the game will be ported even more quickly than the last games, but we don't want to stir up false hope.
Expected Release Window For Spider-Man 2 On PC
It takes at least a year, most often around two years, for Sony's games to come to PC. So we can assume that Spider-Man 2 will be ported for PC in 2025 at the latest. Perhaps even late 2024, if we're lucky. 2025 seems more realistic, though. Since the latest Spider-Man PC port took about 2 years, it seems likely that the same will be the case for Spider-Man 2.
Let's take a look at the Sony-exclusive games from the last few years and when they eventually made their way to PC.
Games | Release Date on PlayStation | Release Date on PC | Time between releases |
Death Stranding | November 8, 2019 | July 14, 2020 | 9 months |
Horizon Zero Dawn | February 28, 2017 | August 7, 2020 | 3.5 years |
Days Gone | April 26, 2019 | May 18, 2021 | 2 years |
Final Fantasy 7 Remake & Integrade | Final Fantasy 7 Remake: April 2020, 10 / Integrade: June 10, 2021 | December 16, 2021 | 1.5 years |
God of War | April 20, 2018 | January 14, 2022 | 3 years, 9 months |
Marvel's Spider-Man & Miles Morales | Spider-Man: September 7, 2018 / Miles Morales: November 12, 2020 | Spider-Man: August 12, 2022 / Miles Morales: November 18, 2022 | 4 years/ 2 years |
Returnal | April 30, 2021 | February 15, 2023 | 1 year, 10 months |
The Last of Us Part 1 | September 2, 2022 | March 28, 2023 | 6 months |
Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart | June 11, 2021 | July 26, 2023 | 2 years |
Horizon Forbidden West & Burning Shores | Forbidden West: 18 February 2022 / Burning Shores: 19 April 2023 | First half of 2024 | 2 years / ca. 1 year |
Spider-Man 2 | October 20, 2023 | ??? | ??? |
The Last of Us Part 1 was ported pretty quickly for PC, as it only took half a year. However, that doesn't mean that the same will happen for Spider-Man 2. While a God of War Ragnarök PC version still hasn't been announced (we're also still waiting on Ghost of Tsushima to come to PC), the recently revealed Horizon Forbidden West PC version is coming roughly two years after the main game was released on PS4 and PS5 and roughly a year after the Burning Shores add-on landed on PS5.
The PC ports for the Spider-Man games were pretty well received, so we can assume that Sony will keep up the same standard for Spider-Man 2 and deliver something just as good as with the previous games. Just do it a bit quicker this time, please. Fingers crossed!
