Leak: A Squid Game Battle Royale Is In Development

Squid Game has taken the world by storm, and now seems to be even getting its own Battle Royale. What are the leaks, and is a Squad Game video game coming?


Few products take the world by storm as hard as Squid Game has over the last couple of weeks. Squid Game has been so successful, in fact, that Netflix is being sued by South Korea's premier internet provider, SK Broadband, due to major surges in traffic. Thus, it comes as no surprise that this new intellectual property might be making the jump to video gaming.

Is a "Squid Game" Video Game Coming?

A Squid Game Battle Royale may be in development, according to leaks from prolific Call of Duty and Battlefield leaker Tom Henderson. The Netflix Show, which has amassed more than 18 Million views since it launched on September 17, is the perfect setup for a Battle Royale. It is more or less a Battle Royale in itself, with a Hunger Games-style last-man-standing concept.

If a video game version of Squid Game was to debut, it would face steep competition against the likes of Warzone, Fortnite, and Ubisoft's new Ghost Recon Frontline. Due to this fact, the game would certainly have to be of a high standard. After all, who would want to play a bad Battle Royale when you could launch yourself into Fall Guys?

Tom Henderson's leaks, however, are unsubstantiated. The sad reality of the video game industry at the moment is that a lot of news is filtered through leakers whom will – for obvious reasons – not reveal the sources behind the claims they make. Henderson has proven himself in the past, though, with many accurate predictions for titles like Call of Duty: Vanguard and Battlefield 2042.

In the leak, which reads "Apparently a "SQUID GAME" type game is in development already. I'm not sure on the developer just yet though. The future of BR is coming," Henderson also doesn't specifically say whether it is a branded Squid Game title, or just something very similar. Let's be real, though, if a real Squid Game Battle Royale is in the works, then we're certainly listening...
