Last year a new Star Wars First-Person shooter was announced, but since then we haven't heard anything about it. Now developer Respawn is searching for a new team member, which gives us a look behind the scenes.
It’s been a while since we got an FPS shooter set in the Star Wars Universe. So of course we’re waiting with bated breath for the yet untitled game by Respawn Entertainment (makers of Apex Legends, Jedi: Fallen Order and Titanfall), which was unveiled last year.
So far, it was assumed that this would be mainly a single-player title. A new job listing seems to point towards multiplayer being part of the game, though.
Respawn, the studio developing the game, is searching for a Senior Gameplay Software Engineer. In the original posting, there was a paragraph saying that applicants with experience in developing multiplayer games will get prioritized.
Now if that doesn’t scream: “Star Wars FPS will be or have multiplayer”, then I don’t know. More suspicious even, is the fact that this part of the listing has been removed.
Not Respawn or EA's First Star Wars Game
While we don’t know much about the game yet, Respawn has proven their expertise for Star Wars games with Jedi: Fallen Order. The sequel Jedi: Survivor promises to be an amazing experience again.
Of course, EA, Respawn’s parent company, doesn’t really have our faith after their blundering of Battlefront II. The disaster around microtransactions is still fresh on my mind. Hopefully EA learned from their mistakes and the multiplayer here will be fair and not pay to win.
