Although Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has not even been released yet, the director of the game is already expressing their wish to make a third game!
Director Stig Asmussen of Respawn Entertainment revealed in an interview with IGN that his team has been discussing the future of the Star Wars Jedi game franchise, including the possibility of a third game. The first game in 2019 was very popular, and the new Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will probably be well-received too, so it makes sense.
Asmussen mentioned that the team was already talking about the second game and beyond, and that he had always envisioned the series as a trilogy.
Here's exactly what he said:
How can we take Cal and the crew to new places beyond what we were doing in the first game? We had a pretty decent idea of timeframe where we wanted Survivor to take place, what the stakes were going to be, what the tone of the game was going to be, what Cal was going to be up against, and how the crew was going to factor into that. And there's ideas of what we could do beyond that as well.
He also discussed the potential use of Unreal Engine 5 for a third game, though he acknowledged that it would require some retooling.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the second game in the series, is set to release on April 28 and will introduce new features such as rideable mounts and fast travel.
