Halo Infinite has brought a tonne of content to us for free. You could even say, for the sake of argument, that it is a pretty "beefy" selection. From events like Tenrai and Cyber Showdown, to the game's fantastic Campaign (that might be getting some DLC!), there's a lot to love in this latest package from 343 Industries. Thus, the appearance of "Steaktacular" is greatly appreciated, and greatly loved, by long-term fans of the franchise. What is it, though?

This is one of the most important things about Halo Infinite: the way that it pays tribute to the series' past. Halo Infinite is a pretty wild game, and adds a bunch, but at its core it is a Halo game in the most classic sense. The gameplay is some of the best the series has ever seen, feels absolutely fantastic, and incorporates weapons and vehicles that mix between the new and the old. That mix also goes for the game's medals, and that's where "Steaktacular" comes into the picture!

Now, whilst "Steaktacular" has come to Halo Infinite, there are a few differences between this new version and the version that came before. Like many things like achievements, systems change over time but can also retain some of the core features or themes that made them so iconic in the first place. This is super common, and also goes for things like game modes. Thus, we're going to break down "Steaktacular" in Halo Infinite and take a look at how it differs from the past.

What is "Steaktacular" in Halo Infinite?

"Steaktacular" is a multiplayer medal handed out to a player when their opponent's score is less than 60% of their own. It is only applicable in Slayer matches, and its implication is that a "Steaktacular" match is one where you absolutely dominate your opponents. It's quite rare, of course, because usually the discrepancy between player skill is not so much that a match will have such a massive difference in score. Additionally, the achievement is revealed by an announcer at the match's end.

How is "Steaktacular" Different in Halo Infinite?

This medal was actually originally introduced in Halo 3, but was awarded for a very different reason. It was still awarded when a team did exceptionally well, but that was defined as a game wherein the winning team earned twenty kills more than their opponents. This 60% rule was, however, introduced in Halo Reach, before being removed from the Halo franchise in both Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians.

Seeing as Halo Infinite is actually the first Halo game from 343 Industries to feature the "Steaktacular" Medal, I kind-of see it as a little symbolic of the game itself. In many ways, Halo Infinite is a bit of a return to form for the franchise, which has suffered under 343's rule. Halo Infinite is almost certainly the best game to come out of the studio, and we hope that they continue to produce good Halo games, that are perhaps a little... "Steaktacular"... at least for the foreseeable future.
