The Steam Deck is everything the Nintendo Switch could have and should have been, and now it's finally starting to ship. When and where? We have the details below.
The Steam Deck is here. While the Nintendo Switch is awaiting the release of Arceus and selling 2005 graphics, the Steam Deck looks to be what we thought the Nintendo Switch Pro would be. After a delay, the Steam Deck is now getting ready to ship.
Steam Deck Will Go On Sale In February
On February 25, the Steam Deck will officially go on sale, with the first units of the handheld being shipped on February 28. Valve outlined how it will all go down in an official blog post, but we'll summarize it for you here:
- Invites will be sent out after 10 am PT
- Anyone with an invite has 72 hours to complete purchase
- From here, invites proceed down the queue
The invites are sent out in the same order as the reservations, and, of course, your reservation deposit will be deducted from the Steam Deck's price.
It'll be interesting to see whether the Steam Deck will manage to shake up the gaming world with its handheld PC features. It certainly is the most innovative system since the Nintendo Switch, which is ironic, because it is also very similar to what we would've hoped the Nintendo Switch Pro would be. Also, the Steam Deck can be perfectly bundled with Game Pass, which, if you don't have it, can be as cheap as $1 with our trick:
