In Tears of the Kingdom, Recall is one of the brand-new abilities in the Breath of the Wild sequel. And it's a crazy one, as it lets you rewind time. Here's everything you need to know about the Recall ability in Tears of the Kingdom.
In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there will be four new abilities to explore the beautiful world of Hyrule with. Some of them, create new and interesting options to get your way around the kingdom and to say the least, there will be literally infinite possibilities with the one we are going to talk about now: Recall.
Tears Of The Kingdom: How To Use Recall
One of the four new abilities “Recall” is the definition of what you would call a problem-solver!
- Even if the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom isn't released yet, you can still add it to your Nintendo library already!
This skill allows Link to rewind time for certain objects. It is important to understand that he himself is not going back in time as a whole and rather just reverses the flow of time for a specific object. After activating the skill, you will have to hurry up, since Recall has a time limit and if it runs out, the targeted object is going right back to its original place and time.
The official Tears of the Kingdom gameplay demonstration shows off creative use-case for the new skill:
You can see right in the beginning, how a huge boulder is falling down a cliff. Since it just fell recently, you can rewind the stone's time and use it to your advantage to save you some time on your way up.
- If you are a lore enjoyer like me, this The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia book is right up your alley! It is never too late to catch up to the world's secrets.
After casting Recall on the rock, Link jumps quickly onto it and enjoys the ride just like you would do on an elevator! There is no need for you to climb up the huge mountain, if the mountain itself offers an opportunity to get to the top way easier.
If you keep an eye on the little clock that shows the time of day in the bottom right corner, you can see that the overall time doesn’t rewind by the use of Recall, only the boulder does.
The blue circle in the picture next to Link, marks the duration of Recall. If the timer runs out, the boulder will be placed back in its original position. That means that you should hurry up and find a good time to jump off of it!
It is still unknown for what kind of objects this skill works and if there is a size limit to it. Furthermore, we can't tell if Recall also works on living enemies or other people. It also seems like you can not use this tool to escape death. But it will be definitely a big help for solving complicated puzzles and sending back enemy's projectiles.
