Octopath Traveler was a great game, and now mobile devices are getting their own version: Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.
Japan already got the game in October 2020, and now we're getting it in at an unannounced time in 2022… fair enough. I won't complain, though, since the original Octopath Traveler was a bad*ss game, and I can't wait to get my grind back on.
What Is Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent?
The game takes place in the same world as the OG Octopath Traveler, and the story consists of three paths, set around an entirely new set of characters. Of course, the turn-based combat returns, and, seeing as it's a mobile game, the game is free to play, but there are some in-app purchases and unlockable gameplay mechanics. A lot of people are going to be upset about the latter, but I can assure you: The game is not pay to win, and those purchases are entirely optional, and do not hinder your play through in any way.
OCTOPATH TRAVELER: Champions of the Continent (English ver.) will launch in North America and Europe in 2022!We'll have more to share in mid-February, so keep an eye on the official Facebook page for the latest news!#octopathcotc #okutoraDa Lu noBa Zhe https://t.co/S0OlifhWz6 pic.twitter.com/2wPwNMJbhT

If you want to play the original Octopath Traveler, you can do that on the Switch, or on Game Pass. Hell, with our trick, you can even get Game Pass for as cheap as $1, so there's really no reason not to play the game. If you like old-school RPGs, you'll love Octopath Traveler – it combines 2D and 3D graphics in a beautiful way, is fully voice-acted (rare for Japanese games), and has serious Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger vibes, except that it's… dare I say… better.
