Devs from Bethesda and Obsidian are getting together to work on a new open-world RPG. Here's everything we need to know about the game.
So... who are the best RPG developers in the business? That's right, Bethesda and Obsidian Entertainment. Well... I guess you could throw Bioware in the mix too, but, honestly, it doesn't get much better than Obsidian and Bethesda. Now, ex-developers from both companies are getting together to work on a new open-world RPG, and it seems like The Elder Scrolls 6 has some competition brewing.
Wyrdsong: An Amazing Upcoming RPG
Setting-wise, Wyrdsong is a dark, historical fantasy game that will take place in the Middle Ages - Portugal to be exact. Well, actually, Wyrdsong will take place in a fictionalized version of Portugal. Outside of the story, Wyrdsong will feature a fully customizable protagonist, and have all the RPG mechanics we know and love from all the great RPGs.
According to the devs, the game is designed to have players question reality, and it will do so by featuring an unreliable narrator, as well as the obvious choice-consequence system. While the latter is a given these days, the unreliable narrator sounds incredibly original and has us excited. The game will also feature supernatural elements and Templar-themes.
The developers past chops include Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and Fallout: New Vegas. So... in terms of proving your skill at making an RPG, it doesn't get better than this. Currently, the game is in pre-alpha, and it does not have a release window, but... with developers as amazing as these, I'm sure we'll here more soon.
