All Confirmed Gameplay Mechanics In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The latest Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gameplay demonstration revealed a lot of Links new abilities and mechanics in the game. Here is a full overview of everything that Nintendo has confirmed in terms of gameplay so far.
Recall
Link's new recall ability gives him the power to turn back an objects' movement in time. As shown in the gameplay demonstration, he will be able to move a boulder that fell from a sky island back to the top. With this skill, Link can use boulders that fell from the sky as elevators to transport himself onto the upper level of the map.
Knowing Zelda as we do, this ability will certainly bring other functions with it that we can discover in the course of the game. Perhaps it will also come in handy when fighting enemies?
Fuse
The Fuse ability is probably the one that fans are most hyped for. It allows the player to fuse any two (or maybe even more) items together and create something new. The gameplay demonstration showed us how we could fuse a stick and a boulder to craft a new weapon. We could also equip an arrow with a Keese Eyeball, and it will target the enemy without us having to aim for it.
Just imagine all the different combinations, that we could try out to customize our equipment and weapons.
Ultrahand
In previous Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom trailers, we've seen Link using vehicles for transportation. In this game, we'll be able to use the "Ultrahand" ability to fuse objects together and build fully functional vehicles like cars, boats, or even similar things to planes.
The Ultrahand works similar to Breath of the Wild's “Magnesis” which allowed Link to lift metal objects, rotate them and place them anywhere he liked. In the gameplay demonstration, the producer merged three tree trunks with fans he found in the environment to build a boat that allowed him to cross a river.
Ascend
Whenever Link is in a room, cave or any place that has a ceiling, he can use "Ascend" to get to a higher level. Although there will be limits to this ability, we think that it will definitely come in handy many times in the game. As long as we find caves, we won't have to climb huge mountains that eat our stamina. This feature will make exploration much easier and faster.
This is everything Nintendo has revealed so far. Tears of the Kingdom is going to be something special, and it's certainly a relief to many fans that TOTK's mechanics are so different from its predecessor, as many feared it would just feel like a big DLC.
