Finding King Dorephan in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is part of the "Clues to the Sky" quest, which many players find challenging. If you're struggling to find him, don't worry: In this guide, we'll reveal where to find King Dorephan and how to access his secret cave.

To track down King Dorephan, first progress through the initial stages of the game until you unlock the Regional Phenomena quest. Then, make your way to Zora's Domain and follow the storyline to meet Prince Sidon. You'll eventually get a quest that involves overhearing Zora's children. They provide vague hints about the king's location, but we'll clarify exactly how to find him.

Finding King Dorephan's Location in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

During "The Clues To The Sky" quest, you'll find out that King Dorephan is hidden in a cave behind a waterfall located between Zora's Domain and Ploymus Mountain. There are two methods to access this cave:

Approach 1 for Finding King Dorephan

The first, more elegant way to reach King Dorephan involves a secret waterfall passage, as hinted in the quest. You could examine each waterfall for the entrance... or just refer to the map below:

To proceed, head to Lulu Lake and face the waterfall directly ahead. Ignore it and instead, focus on the small opening on your left. This entrance leads to the Pristine Sanctum, as shown in the upcoming screenshot.

Approach 2 for Finding King Dorephan

An alternate method involves the waterfall below. Many might have tried and failed here before, often due to wearing the wrong gear. To succeed, do not wear Zora armor when swimming or gliding through this waterfall. Wearing it causes Link to swim upwards, hindering cave access.

We suggest the first approach as it is simpler and more elegant – plus it reduces the risk of drowning.

Inside the Pristine Sanctum, you'll finally find King Dorephan. He will provide valuable information, hand you five King's Scale, and another quest marker for the storyline. Your next destination is Prince Sidon at Mipha Court.

More About The Zora in Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom

The Zora are aquatic, fish-like creatures, known for their strong connection to water, and they have quite some history in the Zelda lore. In Tears of the Kingdom, they inhabit Zora's Domain in the northeast region of Hyrule. The Zora show a cultural affinity for sculpting, as shown by the numerous stone monuments scattered throughout Zora's Domain, used to record significant historical events.

The most famous Zora characters are Prince Sidon, Princess Mipha (who was very present in Breath of the Wild), and Princess Ruto, who played a big role in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Zelda: OoT was also the game to introduce the Zora as a unique, friendly people.
