Square Enix just announced a dynamic difficulty level for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, that will adjust the enemies' difficulty depending on your skill level – perfect for players who crave constant challenge.
Square Enix's upcoming release, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, will introduce a dynamic difficulty level to the second part of the FFVII remake series. The highly-anticipated second chapter of the Final Fantasy 7 remake project, slated for release on February 29, 2024, will give players a new system for enemy difficulty.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth New Difficulty Mode Revealed
In addition to the traditional easy and normal difficulty settings, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will feature a "dynamic" difficulty option that adjusts itself to match the player's skill level. Square Enix announced this addition in a REBIRTH Preview, where they revealed a story recap, images of regions, new characters, and also combat changes.
This dynamic difficulty setting will automatically adapt enemy difficulty based on the party's skill level, making it more difficult for players to over-level themselves by completing a lot of optional side quests.
This ensures that every encounter in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth remains engaging and challenging, both for experienced veterans and newcomers alike.
How This Will Affect Players
On a deeper level, this new feature could add a lot to the player motivation. A game should always aim to make the player feel competent while playing it. There has to be a balance between making it just challenging enough, so that beating a certain boss still feels rewarding, but also not making it too hard, so that players get frustrated or even stop playing because of that.
Of course, as a player you could set the difficulty manually, but let's be honest: the feeling of not being able to defeat a boss until you've turned the difficulty down is the worst, and it doesn't feel rewarding at all. It just feels like you're cheating on yourself.
Well, with a dynamic difficulty level that adjusts depending on the group level, you'll always get the perfect mix of sufficient challenge and a satisfying feeling when you've made it through.
