The Like a Dragon franchise had a great 2023, with two amazing game releases, Ishin in February and Gaiden in November, delighting fans and expanding the ever-growing series. 2024 is shaping up to be an even bigger year for the IP, and not only thanks to the release of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. It looks like fans can look forward to exciting news beyond the release of the upcoming RPG.

Big Like a Dragon Announcement Planned For 2024

A new feature by Japanese magazine Famitsu, where they asked hundreds of developers about their plans and ambitions for 2024, included a section by Masayoshi Yokoyama, Studio lead and writer at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (RGG).

Under the part titled “ambitions”, Yokoyama jazzed up the imminent release of Infinite Wealth and then gave us an exciting teaser for the future. He hinted towards some larger change coming later this year.

"We are very happy to be able to release the new game Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. I am looking forward to the release, and I hope that we can make another big announcement in 2024. Please look forward to what the Ryu ga Gotoku Studio has in store for 2024!”

It’s unclear, what Yokoyama could be referencing here. It seems unlikely that fans will get another Like a Dragon game so soon after a new mainline title. That’s why fans on Twitter have quickly started speculating about a new spin-off title being in the works.

This could either be a new game in the Judgement series, or a completely new spin-off. Maybe RGG will try their hands at another IP-based game, as they did with Fist of the North Star in 2018.

What do you think could be the secret RGG announcement? Let us know in the comments!
