T1 are the 2024 League of Legends World Champions, but even after their dominant victory, there were still questions about the roster for the 2024 season.
The off-season has been pretty intense, with rumors everywhere, but there was one team that manages to keep all of their roster plans a secret until the key moment. After winning the 2023 League of Legends World Championship, fans were curious to know what T1 would be doing with their star-studded roster.
Throughout the end of the year, multiple T1 players have hinted at a change in lineup going into 2024. Now, T1 has finally revealed which players are staying and which players are leaving in 2024.
LoL: T1 Re-Signs Three Players For 2024
Going into the 2024 season, T1 will be fielding the exact same roster as they did in both 2022 and 2023. In-game leader Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok has a contract all the way to 2025, while jungler Moon "Oner" Hyeon-jun had a contract through 2024.
T1, formerly known as SK Telecom T1 (SKT T1), is a South Korean esports organization with a rich history in League of Legends. Founded in 2002, T1 is one of the most successful teams globally, boasting multiple World Championships and LCK titles. It's renowned for its iconic mid laner, Faker, and has a legacy of excellence in esports.
This meant that the rest of the team was able to explore their options once their contracts expired in 2023. On November 23, it was revealed though that T1 has re-signed all three players. Top laner Choi "Zeus"Woo-je, ADC Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong and support Ryu "Keria" Min-seok will still be a part of the team come 2024 with contract extensions until then.
Gumayusi has expressed his desire to play for T1 throughout his entire career in a previous stream, so it seemed like he was keen to re-sign with the team.
Earlier this week Kim "kkOma" Jeong-gyun was also announced as the new head coach for the T1 League of Legends roster. There have been rumors that he only signed with T1 again, if Zeus, Guma and Keria would stay with the org, as well as interim coach Im "Tom" Jae-hyeon.
Tom also had his contract for the 2024 season extended, meaning most of the puzzle pieces from the 2023 victory are in place once more for the next year. The team finally overcame their "finals curse" with a win at the 2023 World Championship, so it'll be interesting to see how they do in 2024. Will they finally be able to overcome their arch rivals Gen.G?
