The trend game Palworld has quickly risen to the top of the Steam charts, and with a player all-time-high of over two Million, it reaches second place of the highest player count ever on Steam.
Since Palworld came out on January 19, the hype couldn't be more real. The game combines elements of sandbox, survival, and RPG, and is often referred to as 'Pokémon with guns' due to its diverse and colorful creatures that allow players to engage in various activities, such as the liberal use of firearms. According to the Palworld Twitter page, the game sold over 7 million copies in only 5 days, all the while breaking several records on Steam.
The game is currently available in the Xbox Game Pass !
Palworld Is The Second Most Played Game Of All Time On Steam
At the top of the Steam Charts for the most played games, you typically find large multiplayer titles such as Counter-Strike or DOTA, boasting peak player numbers of around 1,000,000. But Palworld managed to dethrone these titles within only a few days and reached an all-time peak of more than 2.1 million simultaneous players.
With that, the game is taking second place right after PUBG: Battlegrounds, which has owned the throne for six years after hitting a peak of over three million players in 2018.
A contributing factor to Palworld's success is that the game also features a multiplayer mode. On dedicated servers, players can engage in simultaneous gameplay with up to 32 other participants.
The initial user reviews on Steam also appear favorable, reaching an overall score of 93%:
- User Vanity writes: "It's a great mix between a survival game and a monster collector game. While it obviously has same elements as most other P named monster collector games, I would say Palworld has its own identity and gameplay and its own legs to stand on."
- User Pirate Software writes: "Most people, myself included, thought this game was going to be a meme. It's actually insanely detailed, extremely well optimized, and compelling as hell. For something going into Early Access this is a VERY strong start. Can't wait to see what they do going forward."
- User [Rdog]Maljas writes: "While it does need updates and bug fixes, the game's rock solid foundation make for an interesting combination between ARK and Pokémon, and does it with enough originality to be an incredibly enjoyable experience."
Particularly impressive for many players is the fact that the game is still in Early Access, giving them hope for an even more delightful future.
