Girls being girls, you know how it is: they travel to England to marry a charming British man who also happens to be an aristocrat. That's the Meghan Markle lifestyle or, more accurately, the Buccaneers life.

The Buccaneers on Apple TV+ has often been compared with Netflix's Bridgerton and, in the name of fairness, there are a few similarities. Just like Bridgerton, The Buccaneers is also based on a novel , the story follows young women and their romantic endeavors in the circle of the wealthy and beautiful elite.

That doesn't take away from The Buccaneers success, though. Just days after the finale of the first season aired, Apple TV+ confirmed what fans have been hoping for: the show has been renewed for a second season!

And who doubted it, really? The season finale left a whole lot of questions to be answered, and it was kind of obvious that the story was far from over. Here's everything you need to know about The Buccaneers Season 2!

Where We Left Off & What To Expect In The Buccaneers Season 2

The first season left fans with foam on their mouth in eager anticipation. Jinny is pregnant, Nan is now married to Theo – which is, by the way, a way where the show differs from the novel – and viewers are left wondering how in the world the sisters are going to manage their respective situations.

Did you know?

The Buccaneers novel was originally written by Edith Wharton, but never finished as she died before the book was done. Later, Marion Mainwaring finished it with the help of Wharton's detailed outline of the plot.

So now, Nan is the Duchess of Tintagel and Guy is... well, Guy. Poor man, not gonna lie. And poor Nan, while we're at it. Who is her birth mother? Please explain, Apple TV+! Richard and Conchita also have quite some problems to solve and, with the show kind of doing its own thing, we can't even really predict what's going to happen in England in the next season.

As we've established, there are some issues to tackle in the upcoming second season, and we see no reason why the beloved cast should not return to do just that, meaning we'll look forward to the main cast we've grown attached to:

  • Kristine Frøseth as Nan St. George
  • Imogen Waterhouse as Jinny St. George
  • Alisha Boe as Conchita Closson
  • Matthew Broome as Guy Thwarte
  • Guy Remmers as Theo, the Duke of Tintagel
  • Josh Dylan as Lord Richard Marable
  • Barney Fishwick as Lord James Seadown
  • Mia Threapleton as Honoria Marable
  • Josie Totah as Mabel Elmsworth
  • Aubri Ibraq as Lizzy Elmsworth

When Will The Buccaneers Season 2 Come Out?

While Apple TV+ and series creator Katherine Jakeways have already confirmed that yes, season 2 of The Buccaneers is happening, we are still waiting for an official release date. That's to be expected, though: the first season wrapped up in December 2023, so it's going to take some time until we see Nan, Jinny and the others again.

If they'll be on a similar schedule like in the first season, patience is going to be a virtue. Back then, the process from announcement to release of The Buccaneers took roughly one and a half years. That means if they're fine with that schedule, we're looking at a late 2025 release.

If that turns out to be true or if Apple TV+ is going to have mercy on the poor fans' souls and try to get the new season out quicker remains to be seen – we'll keep you updated on that!
