I'm a simple girl: I see Ryan Gosling starring in a new movie, it just piques my interest. If he's sitting in the car crying to Taylor Swift, even better. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming comedy The Fall Guy, including the release date and the cast.
The most important part should always be first: yes, Ryan Gosling will take off his shirt in The Fall Guy – no need to thank me, folks. The walking thirst trap and tried and true man of the people will lead in the upcoming remake of the 80s show The Fall Guy about the Hollywood stuntman Colt. Because doing fake stunts for a living isn't enough, he also works as a bounty hunter. Sure thing.
The Fall Guy | Trailer & Release Date
It's not only the 30th International Sun Day (nope, not making that up), but also the day to hit the cinema: The Fall Guy releases worldwide on May 3, 2024. That's also kinda fitting because the last episode of The Fall Guy aired on May 2, 1986 – but enough with the fun facts, here's the trailer:
To answer another important question: yes, he listens to Taylor's Version of All Too Well, as he should. Mark May 3 in your calendars if you want to find out if he listens to the 10-minute version (listen, if Elden Ring fans can make up stuff about Taylor Swift, so can I).
The Fall Guy | Cast
This movie has everything, right? Amazing marketing. But it's not only Ryan Gosling as the stuntman and bounty hunter Colt Seavers that should get you excited for the upcoming movie, there's also Emily Blunt as Jody Moreno. That's Colt's ex-girlfriend, so there's surely some stuff to unpack here!
The cast also includes Winston Duke, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hannah Waddingham, Stephanie Hsu and Teresa Palmer. Plus, for those of you who have seen the original show, the OG Colt Seavers Lee Majors also makes an appearance!
The Fall Guy will be directed by David Leitch – that's the dude behind Bullet Train with Brad Pitt and a real life stuntman. The script was written by Drew Pearce, who's not only the creator of No Heroics, but has also worked on Iron Man 3. Quite the cast and crew we got here!
The Fall Guy | 80s Show Vs. New Movie
Back in the 80s, The Fall Guy ran for five seasons and had a new criminal to catch each episode – with a whole lot of action, putting Colt's stuntman skills to the test, of course.
The 2024 version is just loosely based on the original, but still promises to keep the original charm of over the top action, comedy and some romance to go with it. Here's the official premise:
He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?
To see what exactly will go right (or not...), make sure to hit your local cinema on May 3!
