LEC Season Finals: The Participating Teams
Six LEC teams are about to go head-to-head for the crown and for the four Worlds spot. These teams were the top six teams across the three LEC splits, Winter, Spring and Summer. The Split winners qualified automatically and are now joined by the three teams, that gathered enough Champion Points across the split.
And these are the six Teams:
G2 Esports
It's safe to say, that G2 Esports might be the biggest favorite to claim the Season Finals title. The roster around star mid laner Rasmus "Caps" Winther, were already qualified due to their Winter and Summer Split victories. Also, they gathered the most champion points. Winning two out of the three splits is an impressive performance.
G2 will face Team BDS in the first round of the Season Finals.
MAD Lions
MAD Lions have to be the other favorite to win the LEC Season Finals. The team had a very underwhelming Summer Split and not even qualified for the playoffs, losing against Excel and Fnatic in the group stage. But they won the LEC Spring Split and have a talented roster. They will have to face Excel in the second first round match.
Team BDS
Team BDS had an impressive Summer Split, only failing to qualify for the Playoffs due to a Lower Bracket Round 2 loss against Team Heretics. The roster finished within the top 5 in every split and even managed to win the Spring Split regular season with seven wins to two losses.
Excel
That Excel even qualified for the LEC Season Finals can be seen as a little wonder, since the team finished dead last in the Winter and Spring Split. But they managed to reach the second place in the Summer Split, when they got stomped by G2 Esports in the Finals. So it will be interesting to see how this team is going to perform.
Excel will have to compete against MAD Lions in the first round.
Fnatic
Fnatic is one of the most popular and oldest organization in the European League of Legends landscape. But since the EU LCS rebranded in to the LEC, the former multi-times champions weren't able to claim another title. Now, Fnatic has played a rather underwhelming summer split, losing the Lower Bracket Round 2 against Excel.
The team will face loser of the match between G2 and Team BDS in the Lower Bracket of the LEC Season Finals.
SK Gaming
SK Gaming hadn't had the best split in Summer and the org failed to qualify for the playoffs. But they managed to qualify due to their gathered Champion Points from a third place in the Winter Split, a fifth place in the Spring Split and a mediocre sixth place in the Summer Split.
