Phreak Slams Pro-Players And Influencers
A lot of criticism, memes and complaints emerged online, after Riot announced the planed nerfs for the AP Kai'Sa built. For many community members, pro-players or influencers the nerfs aren't going far enough.
The Balancing Team planned to reduce the AP ration on Kai'Sa's Q from 30% to 20%, and reduce the cooldown refund from 77% to 75%. Also, her base health gets reduced from 670 to 640 starting HP.

These might look like minor changes if you're just seeing the numbers, but former LoL Caster David "Phreak" Turley has slammed everybody for misunderstanding the patch notes. In the thread on the League of Legends Subreddit, Phreak explained the nerfs, the thoughts behind them and the real effects of the changes.

According to him the Q changes are for differentiating the builds. So that the AP built has at least a weak Q, "it makes the biuld have a meaningfully weaker button". Together with the W change and the lowering of its chance to pop 5 extra plasma stacks, will further diminish the damage of the AP build.
From Phreak's point of view Kai'Sa doesn't need a massive change or nerf. "In truth Kai'Sa only needs about 1 - 1.5 % wr nerf". His statement ends with a few shots against the community and even pro-players. According to Phreak, players are bad at reading and understanding patch notes. Also, he announced that more nerfs for Kai'Sa might be coming in the future.
But players are really bad at reading patch notes and understanding them. Pros included. We will likely ship another nerf because perception is reality.
It will be interesting to see, how the community and everybody else is going to react to Phreak's statement and how the future Kai'Sa nerfs might look like. For now, we have to wait to see how the first wave of nerfs will impact Kai'Sa's play rate and win rate.
Maybe further nerfs are needed, the Worlds are coming and everybody just wants to have a nice meta, to enjoy different champions. Of course, we will keep you up-to-date on the situation and the coming patch notes.
