LoL Worlds 2023: Qualifying Series Will Be Played In Korea
For a long time, many rumors were making the round in the League of Legends community about where this important series might be played. It was consent that it should be a neutral place where NA and EU would clash. And now it is official, the teams will head to the 2023 Worlds Host Nation of South-Korea to fight for the last Play-In Stage spot.
According to the official LoL Esports Twitter channel, the Worlds Qualifying Series will take place on October 9, 2023, at the well known LoL Park in Seoul.
While we had originally planned to host the Worlds Qualifying Series in North America, we have elected to move the event to South Korea to allow the two potential teams as much time as possible to prepare in the host region, minimize travel, and scrim against qualified Worlds teams before the Play-In Stage.

This move will come in handy for the potential winner of the Qualifying series, since otherwise they would have a significant lesser time span to prepare for the World Championship. Also being in the city with all the other international teams, will give everybody the feeling to at least somehow participated at the Worlds. This might help the defeated to get over it, at least a little bit.
Also Riot Games announced, that more details regarding the tickets for the series and the broadcast will be announced soon.

This series will be played in the Best of 5 format, which means that one team has to win 3 games to claim the victory and the final spot in the Play-In Stage.
The participating teams are the 4th placed teams of the North American LCS and the European LEC. The Golden Guardians will represent North America, while the European representative will be decided at the LEC 2023 Season Finals. This means that EU will send over one of these teams: G2 Esports, MAD Lions, Team BDS, Excel, Fnatic or SK Gaming.
