League of Legends Patch 12.13 is going to be a big one. Not because of the huge durability update, but because of all the skins and champion updates we're getting! Let's see what we know about the next LoL patch already.
The next League of Legends champion was just announced, and she is going to be Nilah. She looks insanely cool, is a unique bot lane champion unlike any you've ever seen before, but overall, she is going to be broken... just like any other champion Riot releases, right?
But Nilah isn't the only thing hitting the rift right about now. We are getting a Master Yi update, like we needed that, as well as some brand new exciting skins. So let's quickly jump into the world of the PBE to see just what awaits us in LoL Patch 12.13.
Nilah Release in LoL Patch 12.13
We are getting a whole new champion in the next League of Legends Patch. Nilah joins the crew as a brand new bot laner with a unique twist. She has a very short range, making many call her the 'melee bot laner'. She's going to use her whip to attack, and she will be able to dodge with ease and move around quickly and efficiently on the map.
Nilah Ability Rundown
Let's quickly check out her abilities. These are the abilities which Riot has released on their official website about Nilah. She is going to hit hard and quick. But is she going to be fun to play against?

| Passive - Joy Ending | Nilah amplifies the healing and shielding abilities of nearby allies. Allies that heal or shield Nilah gain a bonus heal or shield for themselves. And when an allied champion heals or shields themselves near Nilah, she gives herself a bonus heal or shield. If Nilah last hits an enemy minion, she and her nearest allied champion will gain the normal amount of shared experience, plus half of the experience that would have been lost due to sharing. |
| Q - Formless Blade | Active: Nilah’s Formless Blade strikes in a line, damaging all enemies hit. Hitting an enemy will briefly increase Nilah’s attack range and attack speed and empower her basic attacks, causing them to splash in a cone and deal additional damage.Passive: Attacks and ability damage against champions ignore some of their armor and heal Nilah for part of the damage dealt. This effect scales with crit chance and converts any excess healing into a shield. |
| W - Jubilant Veil | Nilah shrouds herself in a Jubilant Veil and briefly gains bonus move speed, takes reduced magic damage, and dodges all incoming basic attacks. Touching an ally champion hides them in the veil as well, but they’ll be protected for a shorter period. |
| E - Slipstream | Slipstream lets Nilah dash through a target unit, traveling a fixed distance every time and damaging all enemies she passes through. She can store up to 2 charges at once. Cast Formless Blade during Slipstream to pull a wave in your path, dealing damage after a quick delay and granting Formless Blade's enhanced basic attack effect. |
| R - Apotheosis | Nilah unleashes a surge of power, lashes her whip in an area around her and, with a final burst, pulls enemies in toward the center. Apotheosis heals Nilah for part of the damage dealt, converting any excess healing into a shield. This effect scales with crit chance and is granted to nearby allies. |
Which Skin Will Nilah Receive?
Nilah is going to have an insanely cool first skin. She will join Kai'Sa, Ekko and Sona as a Star Guardian and the skin has already hit the PBE server as well. It looks incredibly fun and unique, so we hope that it can build upon her fantasy. So, if you're a fan of Nilah already, save up some RP, so you can pick up her Star Guardian skin as well once LoL Patch 12.13 drops.
Master Yi Changes in LoL Patch 12.13
Master Yi has had some changes already before.... they were supposed to be nerfs and ended up buffing the champion to infinity and beyond. Is Riot going to be making the same mistake twice? Let's hope not. So, let's quickly check out what Riot has planned for Master Yi in Patch 12.13.
Riot is going to focus on his W - Meditate this time around, as well as give him a bit more range for his auto-attacks.
- W - Meditate
- Mana cost changed from 50 to 40 + 6% max mana per second
- Now grants 60% tenacity for the first .5 seconds
- Cooldown reduced from 28 seconds to 9
Divine Sunderer Changes on PBE 12.13
Divine Sunderer has been the go-to first-item for multiple champions in the top lane and the jungle, but that might change with the following changes Riot is going to implement in the next League of Legends patch.
- Mythic hybrid pen reduced from 5% to 3%
- Sheen damage changed from 12%(9% ranged) max HP to 125% base AD + 6%(3% ranged) max HP
- Healing increased from 50% pre-mitigation damage to 100%
Sivir Mid-Scope Update on PBE
Sivir's mid-scope update has also hit the PBE server. We aren't sure though whether the Sivir changes are going to go live in LoL Patch 12.13 yet. You can test her out and her new Spell Shield and other abilities, but Riot might take more time to work on her a bit longer. Riot also added Olaf onto the PBE server two PBE patches ahead of his release, giving the team time to work on him.
New Game Mode on PBE Patch 12.13
Players who are fans of the rotating game mode Ultimate Spellbook. This game mode will include new ultimates which champions can utilize as well and is currently being tested on PBE. Are you happy that this will be the game mode during the Star Guardian event, or were you hoping for a unique experience like we got in 2017?
Will Riot ever add another game mode like Odyssey to the list? It seems like they've given up on these game modes, but we will have to wait and see, maybe we get surprised?
Quality of Life Changes on PBE
First Strike, Luden's Tempest and Anathema's Chains effects will no longer reveal their casters. This is being tested out on the PBE right now and should go live with League of Legends Patch 12.13 on July 13, 2022. So enjoy being a bit sneaker in the future, eh?
New Star Guardian Skins on PBE 12.13
The first batch of Star Guardian skins is already on the PBE 12.13 server and ready for testing. Five champions and six skins are currently being tested by players all around the world, and they can give their feedback to the Riot team through the PBE Reddit page.

These are only the beginning, though, since there are multiple icons as well on PBE for other champions that will be getting Star Guardian skins in League of Legends Patch 12.14. These are the champions that will be getting skins in the next patch after 12.13.

It seems like Taliyah, for once, won't be getting a blue skin either. Who is excited for this? But seriously, with so much cool stuff happening this patch, we're just waiting for 12.12 to be over because it seems like a small patch, getting us ready and hyped for the next big League of Legends adventure.
