Edward Gaming won the 2021 League of Legends World Championship, but whether they're going to make it to the biggest esports event once more is still undecided as they continue their fight for one of four spots for the LPL. How Many Teams Qualify For the Play-In Stage?
The League of Legends World Championship is cut up into multiple stages. The first stage is the Play-In phase where the first place teams of the minor regions, the second place teams of the PCS and VCS, as well as the third and fourth place teams of the LCS, LEC, LPL and LCK compete for a chance to make it to the main phase.
Twelve teams will qualify for the Play-In stage which is going to take place in Mexico City. Only four will be able to move onto the main stage in New York City, though.
How Many Teams Qualify For the Group Phase?
The Group Phase is going to have a total of 16 teams, making four groups of four. Twelve teams automatically qualify for this part of the League of Legends Championship, while four will be added from the Play-In stage.
The League of Legends World Championship is set to start September 29, 2022 so get ready. Oh, and don't forget to pick up tickets on September 8, 2022 when they go on sale. This is going to be the first event with fans in a long time, so it'll be extra special.
