Helldivers 2 has taken the gaming world by storm. There is speculation as to how many copies of the game have actually been sold, with one report suggesting that the title is a huge success.
Helldivers 2 has been a resounding success for developer Arrowhead and publisher Sony. Upon its debut, it quickly claimed the title of PlayStation's most successful Steam launch to date, with an all-time peak of over 458,000 concurrent players.
Video game journalist Jason Schreier recently quoted TD Cowen analyst Doug Creutz in a Bloomberg report, estimating that the co-op shooter may have sold over 8 million copies. Neither Sony nor Arrowhead have officially confirmed this.

However, Creutz also mentioned that sales continue to increase on a weekly basis: "We believe the game has performed well ahead of expectations."
So far, official sales numbers have not been revealed. It has previously been teased that the game sold very well, but any number currently touted is still down to speculation, analysis and deduction.
Schreier described the game in the Bloomberg report as a "surprise hit in an oversaturated market". He attributes the success of Helldivers 2 to its challenging co-op gameplay that requires teamwork, as well as the humor that comes from the story and dynamic gameplay loop.
