Helldivers 2 was a surprise hit for gamers worldwide and the understanding for democracy and freedom has forever been changed – nice! So far, only PC and PS5 players could fight for Super Earth, but rumors claim now that Xbox players could get in on the fun.
The Swedish game development studio Arrowhead probably didn't anticipate the huge success Helldivers 2 would bring in such a short time, but if you know, you know: everything for Super Earth! And it's not only a game, it's a way of life at this point with some fun paranoia in real life.
Players on PlayStation 5 and PC are already liberating planets each day in the name of freedom and democracy, but what about the Xbox players? Will they ever get a chance to play the game?
Rumors Claim Helldivers 2 Might Come To Xbox
For the time being, Helldivers 2 is only available for PlayStation 5 and PC – which doesn't come as a huge surprise, considering the shooter has been announced as a PS5 and PC exclusive title and that it is published by Sony itself. Still, hope dies last for Xbox players.
According to The XboxEra Podcast, Xbox players may see light at the end of the Helldiver-less tunnel. Rumors have it that the new PlayStation CEO Hiroki Totoki "might be more open to certain things" – i.e. letting Xbox players liberate some planets. On the podcast, Nick says:
And what I’ve heard is that there may be some very, very early, preliminary discussions about the possiblity of Helldivers 2 coming to Xbox.
Don't forget that those are just rumors at this point. Rumors about "discussions" on top of that. Sony isn't really known for caving to the communities' wishes in that regard either, and maybe Xbox players shouldn't hold their breaths for Helldivers 2 to release on Xbox (but you can take a look at some alternatives). We'll keep you updated if things change and rumors get confirmed or denied!
