Helldivers' Real-World Impact: Arrowhead Donates $4,311 To Save The Children Following In-Game Moral Choice

Last week, Helldivers 2 players faced a moral dilemma: rescue trapped survivors on Vernen Wells, including children, or gather resources on Marfark to produce MD-17 anti-tank mines. The community chose to prioritize the rescue of the children, a decision that has now positively impacted real children around the world.

The actions of the Helldivers went beyond Super Earth, leading Arrowhead Game Studios to donate $4,311 to Save the Children. This donation reflects the number of children rescued in the game and shows the studio's commitment to the moral values of its players. Johan Pilestedt, Arrowhead's CCO and Creative Director of Helldivers 2, confirmed the donation.

Helldivers 2 Players Make Real-World Impact With In-Game Decision

Pilestedt announced on social media platform X:

"Since the Helldivers 2 community chose to save the children, Arrowhead does the same. We have made a donation to, well, Save the Children. Great job Divers!"

In a funny and heartwarming gesture, the very sick children of Super Earth expressed their gratitude to the Helldivers with a handmade picture and a touching message. Teach them young, I guess.

The Helldivers 2 communitys decision to choose compassion over combat has resulted in making contributions to the welfare of real children, and is a sweet example of how virtual decisions can have a significant impact in the real world.
