A new report on Ubisoft revealed that both Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Red are set to release this year.
Ubisoft’s most-anticipated games are probably Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, which is set to take the legendary franchise to Japan. We didn’t see much from either title yet, so it might come as a surprise to hear that both Outlaws and Red are targeting 2024 as a release window.
Assassin's Creed Red & Star Wars Outlaws Are Supposed To Come Out This Year
This was revealed by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson in a detailed insider report on Ubisoft and its countless issues in the last few years. Among the many interesting details revealed in the report, Henderson also shares that Ubisoft is planning to release two big games in 2024 – as long as there aren’t any more issues:
“If there are no further delays, Ubisoft has two major releases planned for this year; Star Wars Outlaws (First Half of 2024) and Assassin’s Creed Codename Red (Second Half of 2024).”
Star Wars Outlaws had a pretty exciting, extended gameplay trailer during Summer Game Fest 2023, which was received very positively. Assassin’s Creed Codename Red was only shown off with a tiny teaser trailer and doesn’t even have an official name yet, but excitement is still high as Japan was a dream scenario for fans since the series’ inception.
This would be a pretty exciting line-up and a much-needed win for Ubisoft. But considering that the development cycles for most of their games in recent years have been bumpy, we think it's unlikely that both Outlaws and Red are able to stick to the 2024 target. Ubisoft still hasn’t committed to a release date for their big Star Wars game, and the next mainline AC title is a big question mark all-around. So delays are definitely on the cards here.
As the report details, mismanagement and a lack of a clear vision has had a very negative impact on the company and its games, leading to countless delays for games like Skull & Bones, Beyond Good & Evil and XDefiant.
This has led to mounting frustration within the company among players. According to Henderson, recent titles like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown have flopped commercially, despite getting positive receptions and being better and more exciting than previous Ubisoft games.
What do you think: Will we get both Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Red in 2024, or will they get delayed? What do you expect from those games? Let us know in the comments!
