Supergiant's Creative Director Greg Kasavin and Studio Director Amir Rao recently treated fans to an early gameplay session streamed on the developer's official YouTube channel.
Beloved Principles And New Features – Melinoë's Journey in Hades II
In Hades II, step into the shoes of Melinoë, Zagreus sister, the immortal princess of the underworld, who has been given the power by the Olympian gods to embark on a journey through a mythological world. Your mission? To defeat the resurrected god Chronos in a story that evolves with each challenge and triumph.
Set in Erebus, where the souls from the previous game await judgment, the Technical Test offers players a glimpse into the game's mechanics. Melinoë, like her brother, can receive upgrades and new abilities from the Pantheon of Olympus. The livestream showcased divine patrons like Apollo and introduced players to Melinoë's powerful "Omega" moves for devastating attacks. In addition, Melinoë boasts a newfound agility and the ability to sprint, unlike Zagreus from the previous game.
In addition to her Witch Staff and Sister Blades, players can expect various summons created from resources gathered from the Silver Pool. These summons promise "world-changing effects" while unlocking key gameplay elements.Old Friends And New Characters
When not in battle, Melinoë finds comfort in The Crossroads, her home base. Here she can bond with her trusty pet frog and new characters like Hecate and Dora, voiced by Amelia Tyler from Baldur's Gate III, and meet legendary figures like Ulysses and Hypnos. In addition, Melinoë can unlock Arcana cards and choose from a variety of weapons for upcoming challenges. While the Early Access version features nine Arcana, the final game promises significantly more.
Technical testing will continue for an undetermined amount of time. The game should be released in an Early Access version shortly after the technical testing is completed.
