This feature has been missing from the PlayStation 5 for 4 years now.
The PS5 can do quite a lot: from voice commands to remote play, there are many features that make your gaming easier. Throughout its lifetime, the Sony console has also received several updates, such as improving the sound quality of your controller microphone. However, there is one thing that, despite being advertised on the packaging, is still not a feature of the PS5.
PS5 Packaging Advertises Missing Feature
Those who stand in front of the PS5s in the store, thinking "Wow, games in 8K, that's so awesome!" will be disappointed when they get home after purchasing the console. Despite the 8K support being advertised on the PS5 box since release, there has been no update to actually add the feature so far.
Of course, you would need an 8K monitor first, none of which are really affordable yet. Still, it's quite cheeky to simply write false information on the product. In principle, the console is capable of it because there is one game called The Touryst that is actually internally rendered in 8K. However, the resolution is downscaled to 4K for output.
Whether and when an 8K update will be available has not been announced yet. Perhaps we need to wait for the PS5 Pro or even in the PS6.
