Persona 5 originally came out in 2016 and was re-released in 2019 as a new version. After the original's great success, the enhanced Persona 5 Royal featured new characters, dungeons, and areas, garnering an even higher score on Metacritic.

After Persona 5, the fourth installment of the series also received an upgrade. The somewhat smaller additions in Persona 4 Golden were also warmly welcomed by many fans. So, it is only natural that many hoped for a similar treatment for Persona 3 Reload. Now, the game's production manager has spoken on the matter.

Persona 3 Reload Will Probably Not Get An Enhanced Version In The Near Future

It's sad but true. In an interview with the Indonesian gaming magazine Gamerwk, Kazuhisa Wada, the Production Manager of the Persona games, shared some sobering words with the fans of the series.

At this time, we are not considering a major version change like what happened with Persona 5 to Persona 5 Royal which involves major changes and additions to the entire series. So, fans can rest easy knowing that Persona 3 Reload offers the full experience.

He says that there are currently no plans to release Persona 3 in a new version. So, players don't need to wonder if they should wait before playing Persona 3 Reload. In the interview, he also explains that the priorities during the four years of development were focused on other aspects, such as the availability on multiple platforms and more language options.

This news is particularly disappointing, because we got something akin to an enhanced version of the original with Persona 3 Portable. In P3P, it was possible to experience the adventure as a female protagonist with different romance options. Unfortunately, this version of the game is quite outdated, and many had hoped that the option of the alternative protagonist would eventually be included in the remake.

While the news of Persona 3 Reload not receiving a major version change may be disheartening for some fans, it's essential to appreciate the commitment to delivering the full and original Persona 3 experience. And who knows? Perhaps some day we will be surprised with Persona 3 Reload Golden Royal.
