A new game in the beloved Metro series is set to be announced soon. According to Twitter user Kurakasis, the game is going to be called Metro Awakening and it’s unfortunately already shaping up to be a disappointment.

Metro Awakening Set To Be Announced Soon As VR-Exclusive

Metro Awakening is apparently going to be a “VR game”. At least that’s what Kurakasis claims. However, they emphasize that it’s not clear if the game will be VR-only. Other details about the title are also unclear so far. Fortunately, it won’t take long until we know more. Metro Awakening is set to be announced at the Sony State of Play on January 31.

I really hope it won't be just on VR, as that would be a massive disappointment. As cool as the tech is, it’s still not very common and not that accessible. I loved all three Metro games, especially the most-recent title, Exodus from 2019. Having to wait five years for the next game, and it ends up being VR-only, that would be quite the slap to the face.

Metro Exodus was a huge success, selling over 8.5 million copies. VR-exclusivity still doesn’t really make sense for a franchise this big and popular. I personally don’t expect Metro Awakening to be VR-exclusive. And if it is, I don’t think it will be the next big mainline title in the series. It’s possible that two Metro games are in development, with Awakening being just a VR spin-off.

It looks like Metro Awakening will be shown at the Sony State of Play on January 31. So it won't take long until we will find out for sure, what exactly this is.
