What happens when the best of the best team up to start a game studio? Many former DOOM developers and other experienced game industry veterans have done just that. They're dreaming big, and have already teased their ambitions to "redefine the game horizons".
DOOM Veterans Start Their Own Studio
A brand new game studio called emptyvessel has just announced its opening with a teaser for their first game, but it's not just any new game studio. Emptyvessel was founded by true veterans of the gaming industry. Many of them having already worked on DOOM or other popular titles such as Tomb Raider, Borderlands, Uncharted and The Last of Us. But they all have one thing in common: they come from a shooter background and believe in a simple ethos:

The team come from big studios and huge IPs, where you only have limited independence and are forced to keep shareholders and publishers sweet. And as such they seem committed to proving that other ways of working can be successful. They now have the chance to realize everything they weren't allowed to do in the past.
But the most exciting part is yet to come! Emptyvessel is already working on their first game title, which will be a sci-fi shooter, set in a dystopian world, possibly called: "THE SYSTEM". They described it as follows: "It’s a small window into a future world where control and chaos jostle for supremacy."
