Some video games turned TV shows just hit different – The Last of Us on HBO or, evident after the second season, Halo. Fingers crossed that Fallout on Prime will also hit the sweet spot!
The stakes are higher than ever for John-117 aka Master Chief and after one heck of a season finale, we're pretty confident we haven't seen him for the last time. We're still waiting on the official news from Paramount about the show's renewal, but the chances are pretty high.
Why Halo Needs To Be Renewed For Season 3

Let's be real here – the season 2 finale set up so many new problems, there's no way we won't see them through in more episodes to come. We've got The Flood and Kwan Ha's legacy revealed by The Mother, Cortana is finally back with Chief, there's still a fallout waiting to happen after Kai's sacrifice and Master Chief has already been warned (by Guilty Spark?) about an even bigger danger that's just waiting to cause even more trouble.
Also, we need to see what happens to Halsey. Thanks to Miranda, she seems to be as safe as she can be for now, but that can't be it, can it?
In the grand scheme of things, with all the potential plots to follow through set up, getting a third season for Halo seems inevitable at this point. The premise is also set with source material: the possibly upcoming next season will probably be familiar to those who played the video games , especially the first game Halo: Combat Evolved. We've got everything we need at this point, except for the official renewal news.
From a business perspective, a renewal would also be a smart move. Halo has been one of Paramount's more successful shows, the franchise is super popular, and canceling it now could cost them a lot. And the team is on board, as exec producer Kiki Wolfkill told Collider: "There's story beyond season 2 we would love to be able to explore."
When Could Halo Season 3 Release?
Let's just dream big for a minute: if we'll get Halo Season 3, when can we expect it?
The track record of the show gives us a few hints. It took years for the second season to follow after the first installment, so it's fair to assume season 3 will take its sweet time as well, especially considering we're also waiting for the official confirmation it's going to happen. On the other hand, as soon as it gets green light, things could develop a bit fast since last time, since the Writer's Strike probably caused a certain delay for season 2.
Keeping that in mind, it will probably be well into mid to late 2025 before new episodes are released. But better late than never, right? Also, it's probably a smart call to work on it longer than strictly necessary to keep up the high quality. It would be a shame to see the show drop just for the sake of an earlier release.
