Peacemaker was a huge success and will be getting a second season, but it seems season 1 didn't fit into the DC Universe James Gunn is working on.
Peacemaker Season 1 released back in 2022 when the DC universe wasn't fully established yet. The series garnered enough love and attention though to deserve a second season which is set to begin filming later this year.
But it seems that the whole first season, while great, did not fit into the DC Universe and James Gunn has had to reveal that the first season is not actually part of the DC Universe canon.
Peacemaker Season 2 Will Be First Canon Season
Peacemaker is a fun DC show that truly hit the mark and John Cena is going to be able to reprise the role in the second season. The series that is set to be back on HBO Max soon will start filming season 2 later this year, after Superman concludes its latest round of filming.
This means that the second season will follow right after the Superman movie, but this will also mean that season 1 is not going to be a part of the canon DC Universe. So it's just some big fever dream of Peacemaker himself I guess...
James Gunn, in charge of building something akin to the Marvel Universe just for DC, revealed that season 2 of Peacemaker is set after Superman, but when a fan asked about season 1, Gunn simply stated that "season one isn't canon."
At least now fans know that the upcoming season will play a role in the entire DC universe and hell, maybe we can see some Superman and Peacemaker collabs in the future then?
