Mission: Impossible 8 or, more accurately, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning 2 has been delayed by over a year and won't hit the big screen until 2025. Here's why.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning has done pretty well at the box office and probably would have done even better if it didn't get overshadowed by Barbie and Oppenheimer releasing at nearly the same time.
Now, the sequel has been pushed back by a whole year. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two won't come to cinemas in June 2024, but has instead been delayed by a whole year. The new release date is May 23, 2025. Which sucks.
Seemingly Impossible Mission: Paying Actors Accordingly
Not even Ethan Hunt aka Tom Cruise could have prevented this disaster. The reason for the delay, as it is so often these days, is the SAG-AFTRA strike that has been the bane of Hollywood's existence for the past months.
Due to the actors striking, filming won't be done in time, leading to a huge delay. And Mission: Impossible is by far not the only production affected by the strike. On the contrary: It's getting hard to find movies and shows that haven't been delayed in some form.
We can't say we are feeling very sympathetic towards the studios. They haven't been paying their extras in movies accordingly and now they have to pay the price for that by having to delay each and every release
What if, hear me out here, production companies would take negotiations seriously and pay the people that make their movies and shows what they're worth? What if, what if. But I digress.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two is delayed. You decide who's to blame for that.
