4. Slay Belle Katarina

*Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. Oh, what fun it is to ride, in a one-horse open sleigh~*

Hot cocoa in hand and a warm, fluffy blanket wrapped around your shoulders. The fire in the fireplace sends out a warm glow as you pull your legs up to your chest, cupping the mug in your hand a little tighter. You enjoy the Christmas music playing on the old stereo, swaying a little to the beat and mouthing along to the familiar words. Nothing is better than sitting inside a warm and cozy house while it's snowing outside, burying the world in a thick white blanket. You stay nice and warm. Never before have you made it to such a cozy universe, you could get used to this place.

That is until, of course, all hell breaks loose. Just as you're nodding off, hot chocolate long forgotten and set down on the living room table and the flames in the fireplace have turned into a low burning ember, you hear loud footsteps on the roof. Maybe you're just imagining things, and you decide to ignore it, but then, just as you're really about to fall into a nice long sleep, you get thrown into wakefulness by a huge body literally slamming down from the heavens. A shriek explodes from your lips as you see the bloody corpse of none other than Santa Claus himself. Red coat, white beard, big belly... all of it fits.

The shock wears off, and you realize there is a giant hole in your ceiling, cold air rushing into your once warm living room. At the top of the roof and by the edge of the hole is none other than Slay Belle Katarina, one of the scariest elven assassins on the planet. Why did she kill Santa Claus? What is going on here? You want to say something, so many questions running through your head, but Slay Belle Katarina doesn't give you any time, turning around and rushing off. What the hell are you supposed to do with a dead Santa in your living room now? | © Riot Games

3. Battle Academia Katarina

You sit in the back of the room, book held up high to hide your face, trembling in your seat. Why did you decide to come early today, of all days? The one day that none other than Katarina, the top member of the Assassin club at Durandal Academy, came to class. Shouldn't she be out doing things with her club before class? Why is she here? Why does she have to stick her blades into the desk as though the wood was made out of Play-Doh? Is it some sort of intimidation tactic to get the teachers off her back about skipping class so often? You can't help and peek over at the top student and her intimidating aura.

At that moment, the decision to enrol at a Battle Academia just seems silly. Sure, you aren't part of any of the battle clubs, instead working in the background at one of the gadget clubs. You'd gotten especially close to Jayce recently, but people like Katarina are just on another level of intimidating, and now you're stuck sitting in the same classroom. Looking at her, you wonder just how she is a second-year just like you.

"You're holding the book the wrong way around." Katarina looks straight at you, a smirk playing at her lips.

You look at the world history book in your hands, eyes wide. She just... talked. Not only that, but she realized you were hiding from her! To add salt into the wound, you realize that she is completely right, and you've been holding the book the wrong way around like an idiot. Is this your end? Will you be the next victim of the assassination club? She lets out a soft chuckle before turning back around. You're safe for one more afternoon and thankfully, the extravagant transfer student swings into the room at that exact moment. You get to live to see another day. | © Riot Games

PROJECT Katarina — 2. PROJECT: Katarina

Feet thudding against the heavy concrete as you run away, who is chasing you? You're nothing more than a mere informant, someone who sneaks around to try and find solid information to try and bring down the Project Command Line, and this one time you overstepped. Hopefully, one of the G/NETIC members is close by. You've alerted them of the situation, but you don't know if you'll make it. If it's who you think it is, chasing you, then you'll be nothing more than a cold body in a back alley within the next minute.

Rain splashes against the ground as your breath leaves your body. You can't go on for much longer. You curse your past self, angry that you didn't actually follow Ashe's advice when it came to cardio, thinking you'd never need it. You're just a mere spy, someone to gather information and relay it. You don't even have augments, a mere human helping out the resistance against Project in any way you could.

Of course, just as you take one more turn, you're met with none other than PROJECT: Katarina. There had been a time when you stood by her side, gave her valuable information, but those days have long gone. A pang of sadness shoots through your chest at the sight of someone who was once your friend. Someone you shared drinks with. Her blades shine dangerously in the dark, murky light of the street lamp, hair wet from the rain, clinging to her. You back away, knowing that this is it. You're going to be dead and G/NETIC won't even be able to receive the information you got before then. Katarina was once your friend, but now she is back in the clutches of Program, and you know she won't let you go once she caught you.

One more step, you take one back. Another, and you do the same, your back bumping into a cold brick wall. Left, right, your eyes dart from side to side, cold sweat running down your back. You dare look up one last time, silently pleading with the augmented Katarina to let you go, but that's not in her program. She hesitates a moment, a sense of hope building in the pit of your stomach, before dread washes over you as she raises one of her daggers for the final blow. | © Riot Games

Battle Queen Katarina Splash HD — 1. Battle Queen Katarina

You sit back, eyes focused on the fighting pits below you. There are multiple challengers, but one stands out to you. Multiple colored daggers ready in hand, ready to take on her opponents. It's none other than Challenger Katarina, who is ready to take the Battle Queen crown for Schema. Will she be able to win the Schemean crest in this battle? She looks like she's got the guts and the determination.

You shudder as you sit forward, watching as Katarina cuts down anyone in her path. This is the future ruler of your queendom, you just know it. The way Katarina moves is mesmerizing. One moment you see her, the next she has teleported to a dagger she had thrown only moments earlier. Her battle is a dance of beauty, elegance and death and no one is able to escape her clutches. Will she be able to free Schema from these ludicrous alliances and gain rule over the regions?

You can't help but cheer as Katarina takes out the final challenger, standing soaked in blood, smirk upon her lips, white hair stained. This is the new leader of Schema, the one who will liberate them and show a commanding performance at the Coronation. She will be the queen of queens, there is no doubt about it. | © Riot Games

Katarina, a beautiful and merciless assassin on the rift and outside the rift as well. She is one of the most iconic champions in the game and one of the most annoying mid laners to go up against. If you ever dreamed of getting a pentakill, then this is the champion to do it with. Her ultimate exudes style and knowing when to dash to her knives is an art, but today we're not going to be taking a look at her gameplay, instead, we're going to focus on all the skins Katarina has.

In canon, Katarina is an assassin for Noxus, hailing from the DuCouteau family. Seriously, that name is perfect. She's got a younger sister who was turned into a monstrous being due to her search for great power as well. Oh, and she's got an adopted brother as well in Talon. The DuCouteau family is pretty big, eh? But Katarina is probably the most well-known member of the clan, and also one of the most feared.

She has a secret lover in Garen, at least judging by all the flirty in-game voice lines we have received, not only in League of Legends, but also in other games like Legends of Runeterra, we know that these two have something going on that is beyond our understanding. How did their love come into fruition, though? We don't know for sure, but we do know that these two would look great together, but their relationship is some real Romeo and Juliette shit, so we should just leave it alone before one of them drinks some poison in protest.

So, now that we have an idea of who Katarina is in canon, it's about time we go and check out some alternate universes. Will her and Garen be out and open together, with their relationship somewhere else?
