Baldur's Gate 3 is quite the popular game and is also (rightfully so) a Game of the Year 2023 candidate! Fans have been asking for a DLC with more content ever since Baldur's Gate 3 was fully released back in August 2023. Is a DLC planned for Baldur's Gate 3's future, though? Find out more about the Baldur's Gate 3 DLC, here!
Baldur's Gate 3 is yet another successful hit created by Larian Studios, as it's one of the most highly-rated games of 2023. Their previous game "Divinity: Original Sin 2" was pretty much the peak of the CRPG genre, so most fans weren't really surprised at Baldur's Gate 3's success.
Just because the campaign length takes about 100 hours, with over 17,000 different endings, doesn't mean that fans aren't already wanting more from Baldur's Gate 3. Already, fans are asking whether there'll be a Baldur's Gate 3 DLC in the future, and if you're one of those people, then you're in luck. It seems like we might have some good news about the Baldur's Gate 3 DLC.
Baldur's Gate 3: Latest DLC News
While there hasn't been an official confirmation yet, Swen Vincke, the director of Baldur's Gate 3, talked about what a possible DLC for Baldur's Gate 3 could look like in an interview which was uploaded on the official Dungeons & Dragons YouTube channel.
In the interview, after being asked whether a DLC would be hard to create, since everything beyond level 12 in D&D can be pretty "game shattering", Swen Vincke answered:
Well, you could just do different things. It doesn't necessarily have to be at the end of the game. So, there's different ways you can do that.
So, it seems like the development team for Baldur's Gate 3 has at least thought about what a DLC would look like, which could be pretty promising, right?
Adding on to a previous point, Swen Vincke continued by saying:
You could make a level 12 to 20 game, it's a different game.
If you're unfamiliar with D&D, outside of Baldur's Gate 3, abilities and spells that you can unlock past level 12 can be proper "game changers", which would most likely be too big to just add in a BG3 DLC.
It seems more likely is that Larian Studios are working on a DLC to run in tandem with the main quest, rather than a "level 12 to 20" game. Which is probabyl wise.
Either way, while the game director did not reveal any official plans for DLC yet, the way that he talked about a DLC for Baldur's Gate 3 makes it seem like they're already working on possible ideas.
Since the game is so big and the developers paid such attention to detail however, we shouldn't expect any news on this topic to come too soon.
