Cyberpunk 2077: All Lifepaths Explained
When you start your journey in Cyberpunk 2077 one of your first choices that you will have to make is which lifepath you want for your character.
Depending on which path you choose to go on, your start in the game will differ, and you'll also have different dialog options later on through the main story and other important missions, based on your character's individual background knowledge.
Besides the prologue of the game, your chosen lifepath won't have much of an impact on your main story.
At some points in the story, your background might help your character seem more knowledgeable or intimidating in some situations, but you should be able to progress smoothly through all parts of the story, no matter what your chosen life path is.
Additionally, each life path will start you off with different clothing options and can enable the chance for you to meet different characters throughout the game.
Each individual lifepath adds a bit more spice to your character and offers you three completely different starts to the game, so let's take a look at where your journey might begin in Cyberpunk 2077.
Nomad
As a Nomad, you've grown up outside of Night City in a desert-like district called "the Badlands".
While Nomads are known to be very resourceful people that emphasize the importance of the strong bond that Nomad families and clans have, you've decided to leave that life behind and head to Night City to start a new life for yourself.
Even though Nomads have a bad reputation in Night City, their vast knowledge about getting and transporting stolen corporate goods, as well as selling them for quite some profit, can turn out to be quite helpful.
You'll start off your story in the Badlands, where you'll meet up with Jackie Wells to smuggle illegal goods past the border with him. Let's just say, your start into Cyberpunk 2077 won't be as smooth sailing as V and Jackie might hope.
Streetkid
Life hasn't always treated you well after growing up on the streets of Night City. You know how to fend for yourself, and you also know your way around even the most fishy corners of Night City.
After coming in contact with the "badges" and gangs, just about everyone who's anyone in Night City. As a Streetkid your street smarts and connections will help you to survive even the roughest situations.
This lifepath will start you off in a bar in Heywood, where you'll try to steal a car to finally be able to afford some food again, since you're currently living on your last pennies.
You're not the only person that wants that specific car, though. Jackie Wells is trying to steal it too and with that a beautiful friendship and a run in with the NCPD begin...
Corpo
Corpo is short for corporate, since in the lifepath you'll start off in a completely different part of life compared to the last two, namely fully within that lovely 9-5 corporate lifestyle.
Not that you're really enjoying it, though, because while you're trying to juggle all your work tasks and stress, your boss decides to give you even more work that's impossible to do.
One thing will lead to another, and you'll be out of a job, your glamorous, rich life, and you're forced to work your way back up to the top with the help of an old friend, Jackie Wells.
In this lifepath you'll know how to work your way around those people that live that high esteemed and glamorous life, and this time round you'll start off in the City Center of Night City.
No matter whether you're a long-time fan or just joining the community, there's enough material for everyone to enjoy. If you don't know already, Cyberpunk 2077 not only has its own anime on Netflix, but also a podcast and a book – Cyberpunk 2077: No Coincidence – as well!
