Because no kid's movie can be released without an accompanying game. Detective Pikachu 2 is getting a Nintendo Switch title, and it's coming much sooner than expected...
With a Rotten Tomatoes score of 68% and an IMDB score of 6.5, Detective Pikachu did about as well as any could have expected. The name recognition alone guarantees that films like this will be a commercial success, so ratings are pretty redundant anyway. It would have had to be truly terrible to not get a sequel.
Now, the film Detective Pikachu 2 hasn't received any recent news (although we know it's in the works, alongside a live-action Pikachu series for Netflix). In this article, we're talking strictly about the game. But on that front, we can share some exciting news with you.
Detective Pikachu 2 Game Almost Finished
This news comes from an insider working on the Detective Pikachu 2 game. They were updating their profile on LinkedIn and in the section on recent work, they included the news that one of their projects, Detective Pikachu 2, was nearing release. We love a good LinkedIn leak because they always turn out to be true, and no matter how quickly the person deletes what they wrote, there's always a fanboy there to screenshot it first. In this case, it was a fanboy from the Nintendo section of Famiboards.
Here's what the original LinkedIn text from the developer said:
Using Unity/C#, worked on one unannounced project and one nearing release, Detective Pikachu 2.- Had ownership of core game features, doing everything from initial system design to final implementation.- Provided expert consultation on effective use of Unity and modern development practices.
And there you have it folks, pretty much guaranteed news that the Detective Pikachu 2 game is nearing release.
Are you excited? Did you enjoy the first Detective Pikachu game? It could be a great release title for the new Switch.
Speaking of movies getting games, what about the other way round...
